BLACK FRIDAY RETAIL SHOPPING DATA FLAT – VIDEO ANALYSIS

Anna Middleton of Southeast Portland, Oregon said “There wasn’t that long of lines this year.” Middleton was among the Black Friday shoppers who got an early start at the Fred Meyer store on SE 82nd Avenue and Johnson Creek Boulevard. 

Reflecting the new normal in U.S. holiday shopping, which was traditionally kicked off the next day, Black Friday, many shoppers headed out to stores on Thanksgiving evening. In an effort to attract the most eager holiday shoppers and fend off competition from Amazon.com, U.S. retailers have increasingly extended their holiday deals by opening stores on the evening of Thanksgiving.
